"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14
I just love this picture of Nate. This little trip we took to the library that day has now been a year and a half ago. (Where does the time go?) We actually went to the Albertville Library because they have a really cute playground, just the right size for a three year old to play until his heart's content. While he was swinging I was explaining to him about what a library is. Never thinking he would want to leave the playground and go in to see all the books I was telling him about.
As we entered and made our way across the building and up the elevator to the children's floor he kept repeating, "there's a lot, a lot of books, Bo..." There really are so many wonderful books and I hope he loves to read and get carried away with his imagination of the wonder in all of them.
"Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house." (Matt. 5:15)
We read a few books and got to meet the three pet guinea pigs. (Look not Touch!) Is what the sign on their cage read. Then he made his way up the stairs to this little nook, pictured here.
It was a precious moment I had to capture. I couldn't help but think about a song I used to sing to his daddy and uncle when they were young. The words go something like this:
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder.
May you never take one single breath for granted.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance.
Never settle for the path of least resistance.
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance...
I want him to know:
there is such a big beautiful world out there; go and be a light.
With God all things are possible; always cling to Him.
And love conquers all; God is love, embrace Him and give love.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matt. 5:16)
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, May we not hide our light but let it shine bright in this dark world. People need to see more of You in the hearts of Your people. Amen.
