My V Shaped Forehead

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

"He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." Proverbs 28:13

When I was four years old I cut my hair. I found a pair of scissors that my Mama would use on "hair cutting day" and I thought I would help her out and give my bangs a good trim. She would be so happy that I took care of that for her. Right?

I held the scissors in my little hands and skillfully reached straight up, laid them against my forehead and gave it a good wack. As I looked at my reflection in the mirror I immediately knew something had gone terribly wrong. There was a V shaped forehead sticking out at me. I knew that this was not good! Mama would not appreciate the job I had done.

I scooped up all the hair I had cut, picked up an empty milk carton on the top of an already full trash can in our kitchen and gently placed my ill cut hair under it. Knowing that she would never find out what I had done.

We cannot hide our sin from God. He knows our heart. He knows our mind. It is better to confess our sin and come clean than to try and hide it and hope it disappears.

He is a good, good Father. When He looks at you, He notices if you have a V shaped forehead sticking out at Him.

I want to encourage you to go ahead. Confess. Get it over with. No amount of milk cartons will cover your sin. And when you confess, Oh the mercy He pours out!

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, Your mercy is new every morning. Praise God I serve the risen Savior. Thank You for going to battle for me so that I might have forgiveness. I am in awe of the unconditional love You pour out on me everyday. I love You! Amen.
