Mighty Warrior is He

Updated: Nov 23, 2020

"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2

Every day we fight a battle, big or small. Some are huge and some may go unnoticed.

A battle of the flesh, spiritual warfare, burdens, disease, pain, fear, worry. We allow it to weigh us down like a 300 pound barbell strapped to our back.

We make the best of it, don't we?

Every day we put a smile on our face and pretend everything is fine. We put our head down and press on. We carry it like a badge of honor, moving it room-to-room in hope of finding a place to rest it, to find some peace. Oh sure, we ask the Lord to take it from us and He does, but just as quickly we take it back and move along. Sometimes we try and convince ourselves, "we are the only one capable of handling it." "That is a lie from the enemy!"

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:2

Why don't we give it to God once and for all? Why can't we experience true rest in Jesus?

He is strong. (Prov. 23:11)

He is faithful. (1 Cor. 10:13)

He is true. (1 John 5:20)

Shouldn't that be enough to convince us? Let's give it a try! Lay it down, turn around and run! Run to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

The One who holds our tomorrows. (Isaiah 41:13)

Yes, we will have battles everyday but the war has already been won!

My battle cry is, "Victory in Jesus!" What is yours?

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, You are our mighty, strong Tower! Help us to remember that during the next battle we face. May we give You our cares and our concerns every morning because we know Your mercies are new. May we run the race with endurance that is set before us in Jesus' name. Amen.
