"And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are-northward, southward, eastward, and westward;"
Genesis 13:14
After Lot had taken his family and chosen the land he wanted. Abram met with the Lord.
Imagine with me for a moment the God of the Universe had a one on one with Abram and this is not the only time He spoke with him.
This is such a testament of Abram's faith in God. Of their deep rooted relationship,
Abram was a true example of "live by faith not by sight".
God told him to stop and look around. To take stock of where he is and where he is going. Abram obeyed. He fully trusted in God.
If God wanted Abram to take inventory of his life, don't you think He wants us to do the same?
I believe this should give us inspiration and motivation to stop what we're doing and look around. Take inventory. Ask yourself:
What do I spend too much time on that is getting me no where?
When am I carving out time for God?
Where, in my life, do I need more attention given to myself care and health?
How do I make the changes necessary to live my best life?
Abram stood still and at God's command, looked up and scanned the horizon. He took time to evaluate his situation and how he would move forward into this new land that he would make his home.
I had been needing a change in my morning routine but didn't know exactly how. I had been praying about it for a while and God answered.
Dana came home from work one day and told me his schedule would be changing. He would be going into work thirty minutes earlier and getting home thirty minutes earlier. Wow! This gave me the push I needed to reevaluate my routine. Do a refresh. It was like God telling me, "there you go Kim and you're welcome". He is amazing like that.
Is it time for you to "lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are?"

Lord, Thank You for answered prayers. Thank You for drawing close to me. May I seek You everyday and be hungry for Your Word. Help me to be obedient when You move me to do Your command. Amen.
