I Can't Quit Smiling

Updated: Oct 25, 2020

"Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."" John 8:12

Sing with me now....

This little light of mine

I'm gonna let it shine

This little light of mine

I'm gonna let it shine...

I was just thinking back to my salvation experience. I was six years old and the Lord was knocking. I had questions. Who is God to me? What did He do for me? Why was I feeling the way I was? Why did He do what He did for me?

I am so happy I had parents I could go to that knew how to answer those questions and so many more for me. They knew immediately what was going on in my little heart. They answered each one clearly and patiently. We went to visit with our pastor (Bro. Shelley) and also my children's pastor (Bro. Maples) just to let them know what I was feeling and to be praying for this big decision in my life.

I remember the night so clearly. I called mama and daddy into my room. They knew it was time just by the look on my face. I couldn't hold it in anymore (tears are filling my eyes as I think back).

We knelt between mine and Sonya's twin beds. They led me through the sinners prayer. The moment I ask Jesus to come into my heart I knew without a doubt that He did. A weight had been lifted off my chest. When I opened my eyes I saw my parents faces beaming back at me. I knew my expression matched theirs.

Mama asked me how I felt. I remember answering, "I can't quit smiling!" I don't think I ever did!

...let it shine

Let it shine

Let it shine.

I love you and He loves you more!

Lord, Thank You for saving me as a young child and for giving me parents that knew what I was going through and how to lead me to You. I am forever grateful for Your grace on my life. May my heart be sensitive to others that need You and may I always let my light shine. Amen.
