By Heart

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,6

This is a familiar scripture you probably know 'by heart'. Do you ever use that expression, to know something 'by heart'? What a blessing it is to have scripture recorded in your memory bank. Passages from God's Word that you can call out to yourself or others for reassurance in time of need.

Focus on the verbs in these two verses. Highlight them and pray that God would instill them into you as you walk throughout your day today.

Ask yourself these questions...

Do you trust in Him?

Do you lean on Him or into Him?

Do you acknowledge Him in everything?

Do you allow Him to direct your path?

My challenge for you today is to answer each of these questions honestly. I must admit, I have had a hard time with most of these questions and still do from time to time. Do I trust Him all the time or just when it's easy? Do I lean on Him during difficult times or find some tangible thing to cling to? Do I really acknowledge Him in all parts of my life or just the 'godly' parts? Do I let Him pave my way or only when I run myself off into a ditch?

We are not perfect but we know the perfect One. Let's bind ourselves to Jesus and really seek a daily relationship with Him. Whisper this scripture throughout your day. Keep it in the forefront of your mind. Know it 'by heart', then rest in the assurance of walking beside Him, and in tough times trusting that He will carry you.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, You are worthy to be praised! I rest in knowing and trusting that You are God and You are unchangeable and unwavering. I am so thankful I serve the living and true God. You are all I need! Amen.
