Write Your Word Upon My Heart

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

I love this scripture! It is a mouth full of such promise to us. How easy our part is to open the Bible and read and study the Word each day. Wait a minute...did I just say "easy"? I didn't mean it! I would never want to mislead you. It is not easy. It wasn't meant to be easy, just available. Through the Holy Spirit's guiding He will help us when we open the pages of this book of life.

*We are to read it all the days of our life (Deut. 17:19).

*We are to be confident in it (Jerm. 17:7).

*We are to study it (John 5:39).

*We are to know and be strong in it (1 John 2:14).

This scripture verse is part of God's commission to Joshua when he was preparing to take up where Moses left off, leading the Israelites into Canaan (Joshua 1:18). Joshua was inspired by the Holy Spirit making him capable and established for such a time as this. These words still stand for us today, I mean we too are being led to a promised land...our heavenly home. We must be ready (Matt.24:44). We must be willing to reach out and bring others with us (1 Tim.6:8). We must search and know that our hearts and minds are lined up with God's will for us (Ps.139:23).

One thing I have learned over years of reading the Word is...repetition is our friend. "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go." (Joshua 1:7)

"And observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to Him, and keep His decrees and commands, His laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go." (1 Kings 2:3)

So be attentive and on careful watch as you read and study this glorious book. Soak up and embrace all that God reveals to you through it. Be excited to sit and learn all that the Holy Spirit has for you.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, You bring life to the pages of the most important book in the world. Your promise is revealed through prophets of long ago, but we hold fast to them today and trust that we will see all the prophecies revealed one day. Teach us and may we keep the desire of our hearts held fast to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
