"Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30
In creating a home it doesn't matter how liberated you might be, or how you do not like taking care of your home (chores). There will always be two areas that will ultimately be our responsibility: home and children. Even if we are the only one working outside the home. In God's eyes He expects us to see that the heart of our home is a peaceful sanctuary; a source of contentment, acceptance, rejuvenation, nurturing, rest and love for our family. We are to be on top of our physical, mental, spiritual fitness. God has placed all of this ability inside of us, we just have to seek Him and ask for His guidance.
We must pray and ask the Lord to show us how to make our home a safe haven that builds up our family; a place where creativity flows and communication is ongoing. Caring for ourselves, our husband, our children and our home comes naturally if we will stay in close communication with our heavenly Father.
Part of making a house a home is allowing our husband to be the head so we can be the heart. It is God's order of things even when we are a major contributor to the financial support. Trying to reverse that keeps a constant struggle in our home. It is not part of God's plan. This doesn't mean the wife can't work and the husband can't care for the home; it's the attitudes of the heart and head that make the difference.
Everything that was said about the home goes for our body, soul, and spirit as well. Effort must be put into maintaining them all. The more time we spend with the Lord, the more radiant we will become (Prov. 31:30). We can't afford not to make this investment in ourselves, our health, and our future. Pray for God to show you what steps to take and the motivation to take them.
Our greatest expectations must be from God, not our husband. He needs our prayers and through those prayers God can bring change where change is needed, then we will know it will be lasting and for God's glory.
"I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever,
Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it,
God does it, that men should fear before Him."
Ecclesiastes 3:14
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, May we seek You through Your Word and know that what it says is Truth. Help us to maintain our body, mind and soul for Your glory and be the praying wife You would have us to be. Show us how You would have us to pray for our husband. In Jesus' name. Amen
Be mindful of praying for:
His Walk
His Talk
His Repentance
His Deliverance
