Vision for the Journey

"Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow." James 4:13-14

I take a trip to Huntsville for an eye doctor appointment each year. Dana and I meet at this office and together we get our pupils dilated and checked as we look at letters on the wall, recalling each one we can possibly see. When we leave there Dana goes back to work to finish his work day and I take the opportunity to meander through town and do some much needed shopping.

I must say on days of visiting this particular doctor isn't the best time to go and partake in retail therapy, for my eyes are blurry; my vision being slightly impaired, but I forge ahead giving it my best shot (never one to give up too easily on this pursuit.)

As I'm walking around spying out the merchandise I blink and rub my eyes, trying to clear them so that I can get a better vision of what I am looking at. As I make my way around the store or down the sidewalk I am caught up in how hard it is to focus on anything around me. A certain object (or walkway) I spy is at best skewed to what is reality. It can be downright frustrating. No matter how hard I try to clear my vision nothing can undo what those drops of liquid did to my sight.

So often, that is how I feel during this time our nation faces. Today being election day for the next president of our United States is very important in our life decisions. Our vision must be clear on who we want to vote for before we stand in front of our ballot. Over the past few months I have tried to examine circumstances and situations that proves to me who I want to be my next President.

I don't know what is ahead for us, even tomorrow, but I do know Who holds tomorrow. I don't always see with the right perspective, my vision sometimes being skewed to one side, but I do know Who has the right perspective and He will see His plans through. I sometimes doubt the outcome of what I can see as being the right thing but I know and I trust that God is in control and He has already placed His plan in action. We must trust our heavenly Father and set our eyes on Him.

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."

(Ps. 62:8)

I love you & He loves you more!

Dear Lord, bless our country today and into the next four years as we elect our President. Guide us in the way we should vote and may the man You have chosen be that of honor and nobility. May he trust in You and bow before You for guidance and direction of the most important office in this land. God bless America. In Jesus' name. Amen.
