"I write to you, little children,
Because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.
I write to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
Because you have overcome the wicked one.
I write to you, little children,
Because you have known the Father.
I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one." 1 John 2:12-14
This is part of a letter John was writing to the church of the epistles because some of them were leaving the church and trying to pull others away; making them doubt their faith in Jesus as Savior.
John wanted to reestablish where they stood in their faith. He knew their spiritual state was under attack and was writing to encourage and remind them of what they know is truth and not to falter in their walk with Christ. I believe John knew that with the Christians of the church there would be some confusion because of the difference of the spiritual maturity of some more than others. He was addressing the different stages in a Christian's walk from 'children' to 'young men' to 'fathers'.
Girls, ground yourself in the Word. Know the Truth of this Word.
#1 What you believe?
#2 Why you believe?
#3 How you believe?
#4 Why you keep believing?
The days are upon us where the non-believers/haters of Christians are on the attack and they are coming for us! Not if; but when. You will have to answer to your faith in a way we never thought we'd have to. We hear on the news of Christians being martyred for their faith in Jesus all over the world; even here in America. One day you may be faced with speaking out boldly that Jesus Christ is your Savior, maybe at your life's expense.
"But whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in Him. By this we know that we are in Him." (1 John 2:5)
Abide in Him (Acts 17:28).
Know Him (1 John 2:3).
Love Him (Ps. 145:20).
Obey Him (Heb. 5:9).
Then you will be steadfast and sure of what and why you believe. God will meet you there every time. He desires a close relationship with you. He isn't a far away God, He is right here waiting for you and for me to come to Him each and everyday. We can stand boldly by His side and know that He has our back.
I love you & He loves you more!
Dear Heavenly Father, Fear strikes a chord with me that any of us would one day stare death in the face because of our faith. But Lord, I would rather stand with you than die without You. I am Yours! Amen.
