"I'll refresh tired bodies; I'll restore tired souls." Jeremiah 31:25
As we each have different lifestyles, from careers to housewives, raising children, to extra curricular activities, to meetings for work or church activities and responsibilities. The list can be endless.
It is amazing what all goes into a week's calendar in just one person's life.
We catch ourselves sometimes racing from one event to another only to come home and fall into bed as the day runs out, to then allow the movie reel of our mind to play, causing us to wonder if we did all that was expected of us. We fitfully sleep, catching a breathe only then to be awakened by an alarm alerting us it is time to start again. As one day crashes into another, pulling us along for the ride, holding out hope for a distant weekend where we might can get a break; a calm for the hectic; rest for the weary.
Good news! We have a God who understands that life can wear us down. He made us to need rest. It is a proven fact that a body needs a certain amount of sleep each night. That sleep provides us with clearer thinking, better moods and a body that functions healthfully.
But it's not only our physical body that needs rest, it is our soul also. Our body can become worn down and tired, even sick if we don't give it proper rest. But the mental and spiritual battles we face can bring us down harder and leave us with a feeling of hopelessness.
God promises to refresh your weary, worn out soul and breath new life into you. He knows what you face on the daily and promises to always be with you. You were not built to carry your burdens alone.
"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matt. 11:29)
Seek God's rest. It's there for the taking.
Happy Saturday!
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, May we rest in knowing that You guide our everyday. Give those with full calendars a time to find space for refreshment in You so that You can restore their souls and revive their weary bodies. In Jesus' name. Amen.
