The One Who Cares For You

"Jesus wept." John 11:35

The shortest verse in the Bible, but oh how much power it holds. Showing the character of Christ and how deeply He loves and cares for us.

The scripture takes place at the tomb of Lazarus, one of Jesus' dearest friends. He had a special bond with Lazarus' family. I believe this passage shows how human Jesus was when He came to earth. He traveled many miles and came in contact with lots of people from all walks of life. He not only was introduced to them and talked with them, healing them in various ways, He gave them so much of Himself. Jesus invested in them and prayed with them and for them, making intercession with the Father.

"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus"

(1 Tim. 2:5)

Jesus showed this side of Himself so that we can know how to be committed to one another. To love others more than we do ourselves. To walk with them and be a part of their lives. To laugh and find joy and also share in their sadness and loss. To hold each other up to our Savior when times are tough and remind them of Who is in control and Who holds tomorrow.

"Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble." (Prov. 17:17)

God's love for us was established before the foundation of the earth. He loves wholeheartedly, deeply, and without regard for Himself.

"To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:19)

I am so thankful that I serve a living, loving, holy God. Yes, He is our Righteous Judge, but first...He loved..."For God so loved..." (John 3:16).

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, it hurts my heart to know the times You have cried over me, and for that I am sorry. Thank You for Your deep abiding love, for the tears (and the blood) you shed for me, and because of them I have a home in eternity with You. Glory to God! Amen.
