The Great Physician

"My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings,

Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh." Proverbs 4:20-22

Mental and emotional as well as physical health are of major concern in our stressful world. As science and technology advance, we learn more about the complex interaction among the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of life. We can be comforted to see that the Lord spoke about these interactions thousands of years ago.

"A merry heart does good, like medicine,

But a broken spirit dries the bones." (Prov 17:22)

Scripture was the first to record that a merry heart and courage can foster the healing of even very serious and life-threatening illnesses.

-Though Timothy minimized its importance, he recognized the value of exercise.

(1 Tim.4:8)

-Solomon well knew the wisdom of the Lord is "health to your flesh, and strength to your bones" (Prov. 3:8).

-James wrote that prayer and the anointing of oil in the name of the Lord was helpful in healing (James 5:14).

-Daniel followed certain dietary principles and emerged healthier than his colleagues (Dan. 1:11-14).

-The Lord even said that His dietary and health statutes were designed as preventive medicine-so that his people might contract none of the Egyptian diseases.

And He said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you." (Ex. 15;26)

Believe in it! God's prescription, found throughout His Word, will promote good health for any body. Just search it and find.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, May we strive for healthy hearts, minds and bodies knowing that we have it all at our fingertips through Your Word on how to live healthfully. Thank You for laying out all that we need in the Bible to be our instruction manual, You have left nothing out. Amen.

Good morning, Bill.

The Bible is a prescription for all that ails us for sure.

The olds days knew something that our culture now chooses to ignore. We should get back to searching scripture for cures and true healing.

Happy Saturday!

Good morning, Kim.

The Scripture has so much to say to us about wholesome, healthy living that we are not going to find elsewhere. Certainly not in modern culture.

At the time of the American revolution nearly all of the periodicals in circulation were of of Biblical significance.

Have a great day!

Bill
