Holy Spirit

"But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away." 2 Corinthians 2:15-16

Shortly after my fortieth birthday I began to notice how words on a page became dim and fuzzy (or words anywhere for that matter). My sight was struggling and I was resisting the need for reading glasses. I knew I had a problem when I was in the grocery store one day and was planning on stocking up on cleaning products. I had picked up bottle after bottle of disinfectant before realizing I wasn't reading the words printed (very tiny) on the bottles, but looking for the pictures to tell me what that particular brand was used for (tub, tile, sick, etc.) That was a turning point for me to let go of pride and go to my eye doctor for a check up and ultimately get me some glasses so that I could enter back into the world of reading again.

I remember leaving the doctor's office that day with my new progressive lenses and noticing how everything was brighter, more in focus, three dimensional. crisp and clean (or dirty depending on what I was looking at.) I felt like I had been awakened to a new world. I still struggle (twelve years later) to wear my glasses as much as I should. I would rather stand by a window or under a bright lamp to read a recipe or instructions than to grab my dependable eye wear, but I know where every pair I own are at any given time and I feel so free when I put them on.

The Holy Spirit functions in a similar way in our lives. When a person gets saved, the Holy Spirit comes into that person's life. With His help we are able to see things differently. We see riches that money doesn't afford, peace that surpasses all understanding, love when it's most difficult and joy when our happiness is lagging.

We have a choice to make every morning. We can allow the Holy Spirit to be our Guide and give us insight for our day, or we can stumble and bumble through the day, looking at the 'pictures' or standing by the light of a window, longing for the help we need.

When we cooperate with the Holy Spirit, it makes a great difference in our lives. When He convicts us, we should immediately repent. When He teaches us we should apply that truth to our daily lives. When He encourages us we should follow through by speaking boldly the Word of truth.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through us others will see the characteristics displayed in the fabric of our lives.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another." (Gal. 5:22-26)

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. May I obediently allow Him to always guide me in truth. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Good afternoon, Bill.

I had a really good nights sleep as well.

Unchecked sin is hazardest to our health and may cause blindness in most cases.

Thank you for praying. I know so many have her on their pray list. If not for the coronavirus she would feel safer about joining us at church but for now her and daddy watch it on tv.

I pray for another good nights sleep for you.

Good morning, Kim.

I was blessed with a great night's sleep. Thank you, Lord. Trust that you did as well.

Another piece of gifted writing to start my day. When I got my first glasses it was amazing to see individual leaves on a tree. With the Holy Spirit we see small sins that grow into thick foliage if left unchecked. God is gracious.

Praying for your dear mother as are everyone at church. I hate that she is sick but am encouraged by all who are praying.

Have a blessed day.

Bill
