"My sheep hear my voice , and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."
John 10:27,28
A good shepherd knows his sheep. He completely dedicates his life to his flock. The shepherd leads them to water. Protects them by day and by night. He watches out for them incase they wander off. He carries them (literally) when they are sick or hurt. The shepherd is in constant care for all of the sheep's wants and needs. He will lay down his life for them; one or all.
To be a shepherd was often times tiring and lonesome and also dangerous. Once they commit to a herd they are normally with that same herd for years. They call each sheep by its given name, and the sheep knows and recognizes the shepherd's voice and does not respond to a stranger's voice. The shepherd would always lead the herd in the way they would go; walking before them; making sure the path was clear and safe (John 10:4).
In John 10 Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd, knowing that the people of His day would understand this image.
We are secure in the hand of God when we accept Him as our Savior. Nothing and no one can take us out of His hand. I love this explanation of how we are permanently His when we are truly saved...
"Believers are secured by the supernatural glue of the Trinity. To be separated from Christ would require prying open the hand of the Father and being snatched from the Son after breaking the seal of the Holy Spirit." - unknown
Wow! What Jesus did on the cross for us should never be taken lightly or thought to be undone.
"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand." (John 10:29)
I don't know about you but I praise Jesus for being my Good Shepherd. He watches over me; He calls me by my name; He cares for me; He died for me so that I may live. I am so grateful I belong to Him! Do You? With salvation we are His forever! Amen!
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, You are my Good Shepherd. Thank you for the security I have in knowing and recognizing Your voice when You call me. I am safe in Your arms. I pray for those who do not have the protection of salvation on their lives. May they except You today before it is everlasting too late. Amen.
My pleasure. God bless you!
Truly blessed to be a sheep in his flock. Thank you for sharing your meaningful thoughts. May God bless you and your family.
