God is Faithful

Updated: May 21, 2020

"This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not, they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!" Lamentations 3:21-24

Jeremiah had reached the point of despair. His remembrance of God's faithfulness marked the turning point.

God's faithfulness and mercy should move us to press on. He is mighty and strong. He can handle anything that is thrown our way. He is there to rescue us and be our ever present help.

Jeremiah turned to God because he remembered how faithful and good God is. He was in a deep, dark anguish but after his cry for help he turned to hope in God to see him through.

"The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to those who seek Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." (Lam. 3:25,26)

We will all face disappointment and maybe even depression in our lives in some way. We must cling to our Savior and remember His faithfulness. We do not walk any path that He has not already made a way for us.

God's faithfulness is a commitment on His part and is as dependable as the sun rising every morning and setting every evening. People will fail you; they are only human, but God can be trusted. We must place our hope in Him, we can depend on Him.

Faithfulness describes who God is. "God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Cor. 1:9)

No matter what you do God cannot be unfaithful. "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself." (2 Tim. 2:13)

The Hebrew meaning of faithfulness is "certainty" and "dependability". God is steadfast and trustworthy. He keeps His promises and His presence is with us even when we feel alone. What a comfort and encouragement it is to know that the Keeper of our faith holds us in our deepest, most hurtful times; He never leaves.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, You are mine and I am Yours. You see me and know me even in my darkest times. Your love is amazing, Your hope is ever present and Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You for being strong and steadfast through all of my life's ups and downs. I praise Your holy name! Amen.
