"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7: 13,14
I always have a problem with all the different ways of traveling inside a public building. The different gates, turnstiles, revolving doors, serpentine lines, escalators and such can really cause my wondering mind to become confused (like a mule looking at a new gate, literally). Some of the ways of entrance can get me tangled up and can sometimes be hard to navigate (Can I get an amen or do I live on an island by myself?)
In most circumstances these boundaries are set up for our safety. They are in place to slow us down and create organization in the direction we may be going. The managers of these most needed securities have established these systems of arranging bodies in one place so that everyone can get where they are going in a safe and timely fashion. I completely understand the concept and I am glad they are there, because I know if there were a world full of 'Kims' we would be walking at full speed ahead, always in a rush to get from one place to the next, never slowing down and sometimes leaving our graceful etiquette at home.
In this scripture Jesus was explaining the narrow and wide gate. The narrow gate being the way to life everlasting. Going the way that leads to salvation and ultimately living our eternity with Him. We answer His call on our life and receive Him into our heart and live for Him. We take this journey of life walking steadily in the light of Jesus. Calling on Him for our instruction, guidance and direction in this life we live. We bask in the grace and mercy He pours out on us daily and rejoice in His comfort and peace He readily gives to us in our time of need. It is a narrow gate with a straight path to follow but it is so worth the adventure.
The wide gate being, the way of the world. Destruction and chaos and an eternity of sorrow and tears that await those that choose this gate to hell. So many are in this crowd. Their slogans they live by are like these familiar phrases, "Have it your way!", "Just do it!" "Do what you wanna do!"
The 'wide gate crowd' seems to have it all together on the outside. Happy go lucky. Living life on the edge. Spontaneity being the title to the song of their party. But their 'party' won't last; there is an expiration date.
Which crowd are you a part of? Have you made that declaration for your eternity? Have you allowed the Savior to transform your life? Jesus might just be speaking to you now. Go ahead, move toward His voice, accept Him into your heart. It will be the best decision of your life...I promise!
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Rom. 12:2)

Lord, I lift up the lost to You today. I pray that you would stir their heart for Yours. That today would be the day they call on the name of Jesus. If anyone visits this blog post and doesn't know You as Lord and Savior, may today be the day that You change their life for eternity. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
