From Thanksgiving to Christ Living

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

As the first few days of December has begun I can't help but think back over the month of November and our celebration of a day to be thankful. I hope we can keep the warm spirit of Thanksgiving alive like a warm, crackling fire as we head into the month we celebrate Christ's birth.

This past Sunday our church began our observance of Advent. I was curious what Google's definition of Advent was and this is what I found.

"Advent; the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event, the first season of the Christian church year leading up to Christmas. The coming or second coming of Christ."

My prayer for all of us is that this month will be a highlight to end this most notable year. I pray it will be a positive over all the negative we have witnessed. I pray that you see Christ in each day's activity, every gathering of friends and family (if possible), every gift offered and received. I pray that you deeply know and experience God's love for you more and more as this month comes to a close.

I read this quote that stirred my heart for this peculiar year we are in and I wanted to share it with you in hopes of stirring even more thankfulness in your heart as we move into this most precious season. I hope it touches you as much as it did me.

"I thought 2020 would be the year I got everything I wanted. Now I know 2020 is the year I appreciate everything I have." -Author Unknown

I struggled this past Sunday with a heavy, dark cloud that followed me to church. I could barely keep my tears in check all throughout the service. I prayed that God would lift it and help me to see the goodness against all the sickness, loss and pain others were experiencing. After worshiping with my brothers and sisters in Christ I returned home with a lighter load and a fresh vision for a new month.

Today I reach my hand out to you and pray that you will seek the Lord and receive refreshment from Him who can.

He is the only One.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, Clear my mind of all that clutters it. May I kneel in Your holiness and gain a greater perspective on this life we are living. Encourage us when we are weak and heal those that are so sick. Bless each of us as we enter this most precious season of celebration. In Jesus' name. Amen.
