Discovering the Love of Christ

"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." Ephesians 3:17,18


Prayer is a number one necessity in having a good marriage. We should pray for each other. Now I'm not talking about asking the Lord to change Dana (even though I did many times in the early days before I realized God wanted to change me). What I mean is praying for all areas of his life; the big moments in his day to day and the small, insignificant things he is having to walk through. I know we have talked about praying for our husbands (refer to 'When Wives Pray' Parts 1-6) but I cannot express enough the power God pours out on you and him when you pray. God hears our every word and takes it to heart.


"However, God has listened; he has paid attention to the sound of my prayer." (Ps. 66:19)


Praying for your husband will draw you closer to one another and closer to our Savior. It will soften harsh words you might have had earlier; it will bring you to a state of offering and receiving forgiveness. When we pray together God joins you there and hears your heart and answers. Prayer is powerful when it is used to the glory of God.


"Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven." (Matt. 18:19)


Now...to work on our prayer life and our relationship with the Lord is of utmost importance. When we strive to have a healthy, consistent, life giving, one on one connection with God we will grow into the woman He has meant for us to be. When we seek after Him with our whole heart and strive to sit with Him everyday and allow Him to fill us with the goodness and joy and love He has for us, we can then be the wife our husband needs and desires. The love that God can transpire in our marriage is captivating. The strength and joy that comes from that is empowering and long lasting.


Your priority should be to become so lost in the love you have for the Lord, to know Him more and desire to be in His presence often. He has all the answers. He knows and understands all that you face. He loves you and He loves your husband just the same.

Set your sights on discovering just how long and high and deep and wide is Christ's love for you (Eph. 3:18). He will sustain you when times are hard. He will breathe life into you when you think you can't move on. He will hold you when you feel you are alone. Never give up and never move passed God's will for you. He urges you to come to him. (Matt. 11:28).


I love you & He loves you more!


Lord, My prayer is that we would be rooted and established in Your love. Show us just how all consuming this love is. May You bless each of our marriages and may we hold to Your view of what Your marriage covenant is all about. I desire to be so hidden in You that Dana will find me sitting at your feet. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
