"The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent." John 6:29
God expects two things from us; to believe and receive into our heart Jesus Christ. The rest is up to Him. He changes us from the inside out. If we truly are one of His, the fruit of the Spirit will be evident in our daily lives ("but the fruit of the Spirit is..." Gal. 5:22).
When you receive Christ into your heart and allow Him to rule your every thought two things will occur:
1. You will have a desire to draw close to the Lord.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
2. You will want to live for Him.
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Gal. 2:20).
Through these changes we will begin to resemble our Savior, not perfectly as He is, but progress toward a more fruitful life and an awesome dependence upon the One who gave you life.
"Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
My challenge to you today is to:
*Read and study the Word; know what you believe and why.
"Show yourself approved to God" (2 Tim. 2:15).
*Walk confidently in the light of our Savior.
"Be confident in the Word" (Heb. 3:14).
*Go out and show Christ's love to your family and others in the way you live.
"Let your words mimic what is in your heart" (Ps. 19:14).
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, Open our heart to Your Word. May we draw close to You and know that our time with You is never wasted time but leads to life everlasting, for all we need to know about life is in Your Word. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
This has been an usually difficult day so I am ending by reading your welcome and useful words.
I want the Holy Spirit to do a work in me so that I can love as the Savior loves.
Good night.
Bill
