"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance. The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men." Psalm 33:12,13
I love history. As a teenager in History class, or any class for that matter, you would have never heard those words come out of my mouth. A quote I often heard from my Grandmother Smith, "If I had my druthers..." "I would go back in time and pay attention in class and love to learn." I am truly a different person today. Praise be to God!
I love traveling with Dana. To me he is a "history buff". He can quote all the history books about all things...well, history. He makes traveling and sightseeing so much more fun and interesting to me (thanks, honey).
The book of Psalms is a collection of songs written over time and used in Israel's worship. The Psalms cover a range of life situations, from praise and worship, to brokenness and anger. The scripture mentioned above is in the category of Thanksgiving. It is a Psalm of David depicting the sovereignty of God over His creation. I believe it shows the importance of our nation to God. We are His children and He gave us reign over this land and all its inhabitants.
We are a blessed people and have been chosen for His inheritance. There is much to be done on our part to carry on...
~We must read, study and memorize the Word (one day it may be taken from us).
~We must pray for America (our President, government and our military).
~We must pray for godly people to be elected into office for our future generations (our children and grandchildren will thank us).
Find time to be alone with the Lord. Be intentional about your quiet time as if your life and the life of your family depend on it, because...it does. Keep a running list of prayer requests (write them down so that you don't forget one). I will go to my grave as a broken record. I will preach from the rooftops. We must be about our Lord's business.
Don't let the busyness of life take the place of one of the most important displays of devotion and love for our Creator God. When we pray and seek Him we have a front row seat to observe His miraculous works at hand. A beautiful presentation of His love and affection taking center stage right before our eyes.
Let's open God's Word and read and study the most important history ever. It will be well worth our time.
I love you & He loves you more!
Lord, Thank You! Those words will never be enough. I am so grateful that You saw fit to make a way. You loved us that much that You gave us an inheritance that we do not deserve. Thank You again and again. Amen.
Ooh, that’s a great idea and I will sit quietly by just listening and learning.
I am so thankful you come visit my blog each day and leave me encouraging words!
Seems like I need to get to know Dana. I taught history, world cultures and Spanish as well as elementary ed.
I really look forward to your posts. May God bless you and your family .
