Holy

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy.""

1 Peter 1:13-16

The grace of God is still flowing today. It pours out of the loving heart of God and changes people's lives wherever it goes. It is also destined for you. It will transform you, empower you, build you up spiritually and give you a purpose in life. It will not remove all hardships from your life, but it will give you more resources to help you cope. Have you received it?

To "gird up the loins of your mind" means to think biblically.

To "be sober" means to remain level headed in Spirit; sound judgement.

To "be holy" means to pursue holiness; strive to be like Christ.

Can we accomplish this request from God? You bet we can, because our God is a consuming fire = Holy; and He lives within us.

Three ways we can exercise being holy:

#1 Discipline our minds by clearing out the clutter; getting rid of anything that distracts us from His Word and His way.

"Consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am the Lord your God." (Lev. 20:7)

#2 Be obedient to the Lord and steer clear of the enemy's lies and betrayals; holding fast to your faith in Jesus.

"This way you will remember and obey all my commands and be holy to your God."

(Num. 15:40)

#3 Love Him with all Your heart, soul and strength (the Bible tells you how). Practice what you read; don't just read it and walk away, only to forget.

"For he chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before Him." (Eph, 1:4)

So girls, gird up your minds; be sober in your thoughts and rest in the hope you find in Jesus Christ. He will lead you on the path everlasting.

I love you & He loves you more!

Lord, You are holy! May I walk in Your way focusing on Your will for my life, all the while striving for holiness. Clean my mind of any thoughts that keep me distracted and separated from You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
